"Lightning II" Three types of F-35 were developed simultaneously: F-35A for the Air Force, F-35B for the Marine Corps and F-35C for the Navy The F-35B has a lift fan installed between the cockpit and the engine and a rotating duct with three bearings that allows the engine nozzle to be directed and controlled there. The nozzle enables short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL). The aircraft also has supersonic flight capabilities and stealth characteristics.
